What WikiMint does
WikiMint turns source code you paste into a documented Confluence page: one card per command with a parameter table and Voice tabs (Practitioner, Learner, Software Approval, Dependencies), then writes it into your space with an audit trail. A tab appears only when there is something to show; an "About this wiki" note on the index page explains what was read from the code and what was not available. Manager and Compliance briefings are written by people, not generated.
Install
- Confluence admin: Apps → Find new apps → WikiMint → Install (or Get it now on the Marketplace listing).
- Review the permissions shown — WikiMint reads and writes pages, keeps generated docs in app storage, and sends pasted code to the WikiMint generation service. Nothing else.
- Pricing and trial terms are as shown on the Marketplace listing; billing is through Atlassian.
There is nothing to configure — no API key, no endpoint, no settings page.
Generate documentation
- Edit a page → type
/and search WikiMint → insert WikiMint — Generate Wiki Documentation → publish. - In the macro: choose the Language, paste your code, optionally set a Module name (this becomes the page title; if blank, the first detected name is used). Click Generate (disabled until there is code to send).
- The documentation renders in place. Each command shows its parameter table and its Voice tabs.
- Click Create Confluence page to save it as a page in the current space, or Generate a different doc.
Replacing an existing page
If a page with that title already exists in the space, WikiMint stops and shows the current version number with Replace the page / Cancel. Cancel writes nothing. Replace creates a new version; the previous content stays in Page history. If WikiMint cannot check for an existing page it does not save — it never overwrites blind.
Audit trail
Every page WikiMint writes carries a version comment WikiMint generated "<Module>" — action_id=wm-<id>. Open the page → … → Page history to see which generation produced each version. The same id is shown in the macro after a save. A newly created page shows two versions: Confluence creates it, then WikiMint stamps the audit id — the id is on version 2.
Languages
The selector offers PowerShell, Python, Go, C#, Java and COBOL — all six are accepted by the service; PowerShell is the default. The service rejects submissions over 1 MB. Very large modules may be slow or may not persist for reload. WikiMint uses no AI: documentation is produced by deterministic parsers, so what it says comes from the code — still, review the output before relying on it.
Limits and fair use
Generation is unlimited for normal use. A per-site rate limit of 30 generations per minute applies; the macro tells you how long to wait. See the End User Terms §4a.
Troubleshooting
| Message | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| WikiMint subscription required | The site’s Atlassian subscription for WikiMint is not active. No code was sent. | A Confluence admin renews it under Atlassian Administration → Manage apps. |
| WikiMint is busy for this site | Rate limit (30/min) reached. | Wait the number of seconds shown and try again. |
| WikiMint could not parse the submitted code | The code did not parse as the selected language. | Check the language selector and that the paste is complete. |
| WikiMint could not generate the documentation | The service returned an error for this input. | Retry; if it persists, send the module (with secrets removed) to support. |
| WikiMint service is not reachable | The generation service could not be contacted. | Retry in a few minutes; contact support if it persists. |
| WikiMint API key is not valid / WikiMint is temporarily unavailable | Service-side configuration issue on our side. | Contact Support@detentpoint.com. |
| Could not save the page | Confluence rejected the write (permissions, or the space is read-only for you). | Check you can create pages in this space. |
| Something went wrong | Unexpected error. | Reload the page and retry; contact support with the time it happened. |
Privacy
Pasted code is sent to the WikiMint generation service operated by Detent Point LLC (Microsoft Azure, US East) to produce the documentation, together with your site identifier for rate limiting. See the Privacy Policy for what is and is not retained. Do not paste secrets.
